Frequently Asked Questions

These are a few frequently asked questions that people often ask:

1. How far from the ski slopes is Haus Schneeberg?

Haus Schneeberg is 750m from Karbachalm Kabinbahn – the main gondola and pistes.

You can access this by the ski bus, which stops 100m from the house, and takes 2 minutes.

You can ski back via the ski path to 100m from the house, subject to snow conditions


2. Do I need a car?

We recommend you have a car, although it is not necessary.

You can arrive by train and bus, or taxi, and then use the bus to travel around while you are here.

In winter, if you want to take advantage of the wider ski pass of Ski Amade, and visit another ski resort, you will need a car.

In Summer, if you would like to visit Salzburg, the salt mines, Eisriesenwelt, Hohenwerfen castle etc , you will need a car.


3. Are there shops and restaurants near to the house?

Yes, Haus Schneeberg is in the centre of Mühlbach am Hochkönig, 200m from the shops and restaurants in the village. There is a Spar supermarket in the village, ski hire shops, a newsagents, a bike hire shop, banks, and more.


4. Do you allow pets?

We allow one dog per apartment, please see our terms and conditions for more information.

We do not allow any other pets.


5.Are linen and towels provided?

Yes, one set of linen and towels is provided per stay, per week. Additional linen and towels are available at an additional cost


6. What is the check in time and check out time?

Check in is from 15:00 – 20:00, check out is by 10am. Please let us know your approx time of arrival at least 2 days before your stay, and we will ensure we are there to meet you and let you in.


7. Is it possible to check in /outside the official check in/out times

It may be possible in certain circumstances, but may involve an additional cost. Please ask.

It is possible to leave luggage in the ski room, and get changed, if you arrive early and want to go out skiing before you check in


8. Is the property wheel chair accessible?

Unfortunately, the property is not wheelchair accessible as all the apartments are on the first or second floor, and there is no lift available.


9. Is there parking at Haus Schneeberg?

Yes, there is parking in front of the house for one car per apartment


10. Is there wifi at Haus Schneeberg?

Yes, there is wifi in the property, and it is free of charge


11. Do you offer the Hochkönig Card?

12. How much does it cost for ski passes and ski hire?

Ski passes cost around €250 per adult for 6 days, ski, boot and poles hire around €150 per adult.

Children are generally up to half price, depending on age. You can save by prebooking your ski and boot hire online before your stay. Children up to 6 do not need a ski pass.

There are special offers for families (3rd child free ski pass), and from mid March till season end there is an Easter special deal – kids up to 15 get a free ski pass when an adult buys a 6 day ski pass.


13. Is there a ski school in the village?

14. What is the City/Guest tax, and who pays it?

This is a tax levied by the Tourist information office, that every guest in the village has to pay. It is €2 per guest over 14 per night. It goes towards funding further tourist activities in the village and area.


15. What does the cleaning charge cover?

We ask guests to leave the property in the same condition as when you found it. The cleaning charge covers cleaning of linen, towels, bathroom and floors.


16. How do I organise a transfer from the airport?

You can contact us to organise a transfer from the airport. You can also get a train and bus, or hire a car.


17. Is there a washing machine?

There is a washing machine and tumble drier in the ski room in the cellar. We provide a service wash service – €5 per wash, and €5 per dry. Please do not use the machines yourselves.


18. I am arriving on a Saturday afternoon, or Sunday. Will shops be open?

The supermarket closes at 6pm on Saturday, and is not open on Sunday. The bakery is open on Sunday’s in peak season from 7am. If you would like a welcome pack, we can arrange this at an additional cost.


19. Is there a BBQ and outside seating?

Yes, there is a gas BBQ available for guests use (for an additional cost of €10 to cover use of gas and cleaning). There is a picnic table and benches to seat 8 people plus parasol in the garden available for guest use.


20. What are the temperatures like in Summer?

In summer, the temperature varies from early 20 degrees centigrade to mid 30’s. As we are in the mountains, it is generally cooler. We also get a few summer storms, mainly in the afternoons/evenings.


21. How do you accept payment?

We accept payment for the deposit by credit card or bank transfer. We accept payment for the balance by bank transfer or credit card prior to arrival, or cash on arrival.


22. What consumables do you provide in the apartment?

We provide 2 toilet rolls, salt, pepper, sugar, liquid hand soap, washing up liquid, kitchen cleaner, and washing up sponge


23. Can I charge my electric car at the property?

Unfortunately we do not have a facility to charge electric cars, and for safety and insurance purposes, no charging of electric cars is allowed on the property. The nearest electric car chargers are in Bischofshofen.
