The ski area lies between 860 and 2000m, and it is possible to ski the famous Königstour in both directions.  This takes in the 6 mountain peaks and 5 villages between Mühlbach am Hochkönig and Maria Alm.

There is a free and frequent ski bus which stops just 100m outside the front door and will whisk you to the gondola in just a few minutes. Snow conditions allowing, it is possible to ski back to within 100m of the accommodation.  You can return to the village by taking a beautiful 7km blue run winding down the flanks of Schneeberg. Alternatively, an exhilerating black run underneath the gondola, followed by the Skiweg (ski path) back to the village. To see a video of the ski weg, click here!

New for 2018 and 2019 – The Königstour is extended from Dec 2018! 2 new gondolas have been installed to connect the bottom of Abergbahn to the top of Natrun.  This means that you can ski directly into Maria Alm village, stop off for lunch, and ski back again!

A new 10 seater gondola replaced the lovely romantic, but slow, 2 seater chairlift in Dienten in Dec 2019!

Hochkeil Ski Area

As well as the main ski area of Hochkönig ski resort, there is a smaller ski area called Hochkeil, situated just above Mühlbach am Hochkönig. This can be reached via the ski bus.  Hochkeil ski area is great for beginners with a beginners tow, and a gentle beginners piste with T Bar.  It also has some fantastic red runs running through the trees, and is popular with ski tourers for the off piste areas.  All the lifts are either T bars or button lifts.  In good snow conditions, you can ski down to Bischofshofen in the valley on an off piste itinery, and take the ski bus back up to resort.  This however, is only recommended for expert skiers with off piste experience.

Snow Parks in  Hochkönig Ski Resort

There are 3 major snow parks available in the area with a variety of lines to choose from depending on experience. There are also several mini-parks dotted around the mountains for the freestyle novices to experience this fast growing sport.

The Blue Tomato snow park at Kings Park in Mühlbach is 1.8km long, with over 50 jumps and obstacles, and a snow park app.
