Haus Schneeberg is a traditional Austrian family house where a warm, friendly welcome is guaranteed. Located in the heart of the tranquil, traditional copper mining village of Muhlbach am Hochkonig, you and your loved ones will enjoy staying in a safe and peaceful setting surrounded by a backdrop of beautiful mountains, forestry and lakes as well as hundreds of kilometres of skiing, hiking and family trails.

Stay in one of three cosy, family friendly self-catering apartments each with south facing balconies and mountain views. With attention to detail guaranteed and every comfort taken care of, your apartment will provide you with everything you need for a fun and relaxing break away.

Haus Schneeberg is situated just outside the centre of the village, but only a few steps away from shops and restaurants, the ski and hiking bus stop, and the children’s playground. All you need is right on the doorstep.

After an active day exploring, you will be welcomed back to the house, where you can put your feet up and relax in your cosy apartment – the perfect time to reminisce on your favourite moments of the day and plan tomorrow’s new adventures.

Haus Schneeberg, or Snowy Mountain House,  is named after Schneeberg mountain in the resort, where you can ski and hike.  It is situated in the centre of Mühlbach am Hochkönig, 2 minutes walk from shops and restaurants and 100m from the ski and hiking bus stop.  Haus Schneeberg has 3 one bedroom apartments, each sleeping up to 4 or 5 people, all with south facing balconies.

Apartments Aberg and Hochkeil are on the first floor and Selbhorn apartment is on the second floor, built in the eaves of the house with a private balcony.

Haus Schneeberg is in the centre of the skiing and hiking village of Mühlbach am Hochkönig, 60km from Salzburg

There are so many things to do in our region, no matter what time of the year you visit!

In winter there are over 120km of pistes in the Hochkönig ski resort, and over 760km in the Ski Amade region.  In summer there are over 340km of hiking trails, and so many other activities!  Then at all times of the year there are some beautiful sights to see in the Salzburg region


Haus Schneeberg is only 60km (about 45 mins drive) due south of Salzburg International Airport and less than 2 hours drive from Klagenfurt, Graz, Linz. You can also travel to Innsbruck and Munich, which are about 2.5 hours drive away.  

Via prior arangement, it is possible to organise transfers to and from the airport for an additional fee. Please contact us at time of booking to organise transfers. There is a frequent and efficient train service to/from Salzburg or Munich to Bischofshofen. From Bischofshofen you can take a 10 minute taxi ride or there is a frequent bus service to Mühlbach am Hochkönig.  For more detail on how to get from Salzburg airport to Mühlbach am Hochkönig, click here.

Haus Schneeberg is directly behind the fire station in the village – take the right turn just before the fire station, and just after you pass all the shops in the village.

In winter, you have access to over 120km of pistes in the Hochkönig ski area via the local gondola station, 750m from the House. 

You can ski back to within 100m of the house, along the ski path, snow conditions permitting.   The area has a wealth of mountain restaurants serving tasty local delights at really reasonable prices.  You also have access to over 760km of pistes in the Ski Amadé  area, which includes ski resorts such as Schladming, Flachau, Zauchensee, Gastein, and the Dachstein glacier

Spring, Summer and Autumn

In Summer, there are over 340km of hiking trails, along with many other activities where you can take advantage of the beautiful scenery.  There is an open air swimming pool in the village, along with tennis, archery, horseriding, geocaching, and many other activities in the area.

As we are in the centre of the Salzburg region, it is an ideal place to explore the sights.  The most popular sights to see are Hohenwerfen castle, Eisriesenwelt (the largest ice caves in the World), Grossglockner high Alpine road, Hallstatt, the Königssee and Berchtesgaden, Salt mines, waterfalls, gorges, and of course Salzburg itself!

Haus Schneeberg is 750m from Karbachalm Kabinbahn – the main gondola and pistes.

You can access this by the ski bus, which stops 100m from the house, and takes 2 minutes.

You can ski back via the ski path to 100m from the house, subject to snow conditions

It depends what you are coming for!

If you are coming for the Christmas markets, late November till Christmas is perfect.

If you are coming for skiing, the ski slopes are open Dec through till Easter, with glaciers open from end Oct till beginning May.

We recommend you have a car, although it is not necessary.  You can arrive by train and bus, or taxi, and then use the bus to travel around while you are here.

In winter, if you want to take advantage of the wider ski pass of Ski Amade, and visit another ski resort, you will need a car.

In Summer, if you would like to visit Salzburg, the salt mines, Eisriesenwelt, Hohenwerfen castle etc , you will need a car.

Standard check in time is from 3pm

We like to welcome our guests when they arrive and show you the apartment and house, so if you arrive before 8pm, we will greet you on arrival.

A self check in is also available from after 8pm.  We ask that guests do not arrive after midnight, for the comfort of all our guests.

Check out is by 10am

We ask for a 30% deposit to secure the booking.

€25 of this is non refundable to cover admin fees, the balance is refundable up to 30 days before arrival.

The balance is payable 14 days before arrival.
